Hi PM, great work on the submission! It's really hard to tell a story without narration but you've done a really good job here! great use of SFX and music to engage the audience in your story. The one thing I found confusing was the sudden change in the Dad wanting not to work anymore and stay behind to help set up the home. I think if you built this out a little more it would do the story a lot more justice. Best of luck!

Nice story, it would be nice to add other sequences of opening different boxes and maybe some gag in that task

This poor mom, having to move while taking care of a really young baby. Your story was very clear and concise. I enjoyed in the end how the husband’s acts of kindness and helping out removed the tentacles. Congratulations on completing your story reel!

Hello Paige. Wow! You combined everything creatively. The drawings tell the story very clear, was fun, and in a very short time. You also used perfect sound effects, and background music.
Your story it reminded me when I used to work in a nurseries school, and I used to say " I would like to be an octopus because I need one tentacle for each child."
I feel that you story is one the top. Very good job.

Congratulations!!

Hey Paige! I’m so glad to see your final submission! I can see major improvements since the last one that I reviewed!

I love your art, I think it’s very expressive. I particularly believe that all mothers are super powerful, somehow they find the time to do everything even if nobody helps them. I really like that you have tried to reflect the high degree of occupation that mothers have in such a fun way. The fact that when she gets a little help the tentacles are removed is a great detail!

Congratulations on finishing the Xperiential program!

Hey Paige,
I loved your submission!! You were able to make it so short, yet convey everything that needed to be shown - very well done!
I love the repetitiveness of the husband going to work and the wife being stuck at home, and always with the door slamming that would cue the baby crying - it made me really feel for the wife and made me so happy when her tentacles appeared to make her job easier!
Also loved that the husband wasn't appalled by them and his wife, he just accepted her with them, which is lovely to see!

hi Paige!
I LOVE your reflection and continuing enthusiasm :)

Also, your thumbnail is cool, and the logo is very cringey but good. Your introductory text is quite good; with details such as "new house to new home" and "tenta... hands" ; makes it feel as an actual movie.

I can't believe how short you've been able to make it! (That's a compliment :) )
At 0:15, the phone isn't very clearly visible.
At 0:20 and 0:21 the shots are very nice - the husband-walkoff is very typical, and Mom's happiness afterwards is heartwarming.
How Mom gives the baby her suck-thingy, her arm movement, makes me think of the tentacles, which is cool!
Oh no, her smile slowly fades..
I'm wondering what would work better to show "it's a LOT of work and it's taking a LOT of time"; either show little progress or show stacks of boxes in the background grow higher and higher. Mom's posture and facial expressions already work well, though.
The quirky tentacle music is fun :) The sudden harsh "oh no!" sound as well.
Good choice on the (different) coloring and shading!
hah, the phone-throwaway
Your resolution is incredibly sweet and well-paced ^^

Only thing I'm worried about is; nowadays, some people might be hypersensitive to the old parental roles, and might dislike that Mom needs to be saved in the end. They'd think "why not make her throw away the phone" (which would not be loveydovey at ALL). On the other hand, Moms DO have an incredible amount of work - and it's amazing there's visibility and advocacy for it because you're showing it :)
I'm not sure if I could think of anything - but I hope you're aware of your choices and implications.

I really like your story reel!

I love how comedic shoving the pacifier into the baby's mouth is! The buildup to the tentacles is also really good. The repetition of the other parent leaving, baby crying, unpacking, pizza is a good way to lead up to the eventual tentacles. One question I have is what causes the tentacles? Is it the stress or a release of anger? I do like how the tentacles disappear once the other parental figure starts to help out around the house again.

New parents uproot to a new city for dad’s new job. Mom is stuck unpacking boxes and making the new house into a new home when dad is abruptly called into his new position. What happens when mom is left to manage the unpacking, and new baby while dad is at work? Maybe an extra pair of tentacles…errr hands could be of use!

This is where the special thanks would go!  I’m assuming they will be a little longer this week, therefore, I designed extra space for them. If there is far more description and special thanks then there is space, this entire box becomes scrollable.

Special Thanks:
