Hello Mara! I'm glad you had fun with this piece, what you have here is pretty good! The message is great, I think we've all instinctively used someone or an object to block out feelings of grief and hard times at least once. Daniel adopting the dog and not caring for them initially reminds me of all the people that use their pets for social media points or flaunting their status without thinking about the animal. I also like how the dog comforting him is what leads to his recovery, especially given how empathetic pets can be.
Daniel's design is cute and friendly, and I like your color choices in your detailed sketches, especially with the shot of the worker cell. Daniel stands out among the rest gives his arc a bit of irony in that he already stands out despite trying to fit in, and it works even better given how his attempts of forcing joy for himself makes him isolated and alone. I hope you get around to finishing this one whenever you can :)

Hey Mara,
First of all congratulations on delivering the first part of your story. I am sorry to hear about your personal business, but I hope this is all better now! The idea about being extroverted in a world of introverted is interesting, because you 'normally' only hear stories that tell the opposite. If you decide to further develop your story, I would be very interested in seeing how the world feels like. How do they work, how do they travel, and what kind of phones do they have? Best of luck, and good job again on submitting the first part! 😊

Great story, really heart felt message that we need to hear. I would be interested in more of the lizard world and what makes them so different from dogs or humans, but I get the analogy and think it is a really good and original submission

I feel this is a great foundation for your story. I feel there is a lot of narrative dialogue and I hope you continue to work and match the visuals to your beautiful story. The artwork you have displayed has a lot of movement, and your simple drawings display clear emotions for the moment being explained. Good luck with the rest of your creative journey!

Sadly, I wasn't able to finish the project completely due to personal stuff, but I had a lot of fun doing it and was able to polish the story spine for Act 1 with some more detailed drawings. So here it is.
Daniel is an extroverted bearded dragon living in a world built around the needs of introverted reptiles. He does his best to fit in and hide or adjust the parts of himself that his society doesn't find acceptable.
But after suffering the loss of his only friend, Daniel goes off the rails and tries to push and force the world to be more like what he needs it to be, going so far as to selfishly adopt a pet dog and then neglect it through improper care.
In the end, Daniel has to learn that trying to force the ones around him to change to his social needs will not lead to happiness, and that instead he needs to seek out people like him and connect with them to truly feel fulfilled.
This is where the special thanks would go! I’m assuming they will be a little longer this week, therefore, I designed extra space for them. If there is far more description and special thanks then there is space, this entire box becomes scrollable.
Special Thanks:
