I've been following this project as it has developed over the course of this eight-week program and it is truly amazing. The camera angles, the characterization, the mystery, and the story progression are just so well-crafted. I can't wait to see what creative endeavors you tackle next!

Wow! Your story had great flow, clear visuals, and natural character arcs. I loved the wicked grandma style as it (for me) was clearly through the boy’s mind, adding into his misunderstanding. The end fit so well, particularly as she seems evil again only to find a disgusting biscuit in the sofa: comedic, and a great link to her growth and the boy’s misunderstanding in one. I think it can be enjoyed by a whole range of ages and backgrounds as it’s nuanced, entertaining, and has themes familiar in life such as memory loss.

What a great story! I love how the main characters perspective is flawed throughout the first two acts, thinking their grandmother is up to something suspicious while she actually is struggling with her memory. I feel like this highlights the moral of your story and creates a really touching dynamic between the characters in the final act. The art style is great and convey enough details to make your story very easy to follow. I especially like the ending sequence where the grandmother finds a cookie in the couch, what a great callback. Amazing job!

Awesome job. Introducing your character as being a sherlock holmes esque character preps the audience for the type of story you will be telling. From knowing that he likes to solve puzzles/mysteries, we (the audience) can guess that this character trait will be important down the line. The hardest part, I imagine, might have been introducing clues that would lead the character and the audience in one direction - the grandma being evil - while also making them broad enough to have the twist at the end - the grandma was just suffering from memory issues. The story worked really well too, because we were seeing the events of the story play out from the boy's perspective; he's an untrustworthy source, so we (the audience) ONLY see the things he thinks he sees. This was a really great story through and through, and your drawing abilities really captured the intricacies of storytelling here.

Hi! I really like your story! I don't know how I haven't come across it until now. There are so many to review that it's impossible to give feedback to all of them!

Your drawings are absolutely stunning, you have a great amount of detail and your animations are great! By the way, I love your acting with the voices, you are very expressive!

I really like the unusualness of your story. Normally grandparents are portrayed as lovable characters, but in your story you make her look like someone bad with that evil laugh. In the end, you make her look like someone good again, absolutely great!

Congratulations on finishing the Xperiential program!

Hi Milty,

You have amazing illustration skills—loved the composition of each image, how the characters and their environments are drawn, and how you utilized shading to illustrate feelings. Great work.

I loved the story, and think you did a fabulous job at keeping it short, sweet, but still carrying a strong message and learning. The touch of humor was also great!

Amazing work!

Once upon a time, there was a boy who wanted to be a detective.

He spent his days reading mystery novels, solving puzzles, and helping others.

As his deductive skills became more and more refined, he would help the people in his town with a variety of cases.

He was known as a local hero for solving small cases. And although he liked being a detective, what he liked more was being right.

One day, his parents told him that his grandma would start living with them for a while. They got along great at first!

"Have a cookie!"

But he noticed there were times where something seemed...off?

"What's wrong dear?"

The final straw was when his grandma didn't feed Oliver, the family dog, when the rest of the family were out for the night.

How could she forget that? Unless...?!

There had to be a motive to her actions.

Could it be that with Oliver out of the way, no one could smell out where Grandma REALLY hid the cookies?!

But he needed more proof, so the next day, he tried sneaking into grandma's room.

[O.S. cackling]

...

"HA!! Where are you going deary? Give granny a kiss! Ahahah!!"

[O.S. laughing]

"And this was when he was a little baby!"

[family awws]

This was clearly an act of revenge!

There's only one thing I can do. I've got to figure out what's inside that box!

But without the key around grandma's neck, there was no real way of opening the box.

So in an act of revenge, he hides it away for safekeeping.

The next day, the sounds of his grandma desperately searching through her room wakes him up.

He gets up and finds his grandma.

"I know all along you've been hiding something from me! It's time to reveal your true nature, grandma!"

"You're right deary, I have been hiding something from you."

But instead of admitting she was evil, she tells him that lately she's been starting to develop memory issues.

The reason she's been staying over was so his family could watch over her as she takes her medicine that she keeps in her box.

She's upset and ashamed because she must've misplaced the box and can't remember what happened to it.

Looking back, all he was really doing was picking evidence to confirm his beliefs, instead of deducing the conclusion from the facts.

Knowing that he made a mistake, he admits to grandma he had taken the box. He apologizes for suspecting her, and he promises to make things right.

And ever since that day, he uses his detective skills to help his grandma, working through puzzles together to help exercise her brain.

He learns that being right isn't what being a detective is about. It's about helping others and finding the truth.

And if you don't allow for outside perspectives and you're close-minded, then you'll come to the wrong conclusion and you'll hurt yourself and the people around you.

This is where the special thanks would go!  I’m assuming they will be a little longer this week, therefore, I designed extra space for them. If there is far more description and special thanks then there is space, this entire box becomes scrollable.

Special Thanks:

Team:
Milty (solo for now)
