I was worried in the beginning as it all seemed random, but it all came together quite nicely. Good swerve at the end with the Prey being the Hero. I appreciated the fact that I didn't know where the story was heading for the most part. This could be a good short.

Very nice story with connecting the prey to be the hero at the end, calms down the food chain mentality which I enjoyed. I think the narration helps move the story to the pictures along, though I also think it can be strong enough with more storyboard drawings and no narration if you are looking into it again in the future. Regardless this was great! Congratulations on finishing the program, this was well done!!

I love your story! It's simple and sweet, with great message about friendship.
Overall, your drawings are easy to understand, and it helps communicate the story quite well. However, I think adding some more drawings can enhance the drawings further. Also, in addition to the symbols you use to communicate the character's emotions, I think adjusting their facial expressions can help a lot as well!. Another main comment I have on the drawings would be the way you chose to frame them. While most of them are great and goes well with the narration, I think you could benefit more from shots like close ups to show the character's emotions (like when Maria and Julie is scared in the water) to really show their desperation.
For me, my favorite part about your work is definitely the character development and lesson learned in this story! They are very well thought out and the story flows very nicely. Also, and you did an amazing job narrating and adding sound effects as well :)

I love how character driven this story is! The change from using her wings for hunting birds to trying to save her sister is SO sweet <3 The lesson learned in this story is perfect to help people understand that you should always remain open minded and expect surprises from the universe! Very nice job!

Hi Caroline,
I really like your story structure and moral of the story. I like animal stories, it makes us empathetic i think. I like your lines but if the animals have more clear facial expressions it would be more clear and engaging.
I know it is hard to finish our stories so you did the hard job. Thank you for letting us to see your story :) good job, congratulations.

Hi Caroline! Congratulations on finishing the Xperiential program!
I really like that the bird which Maria tried to attack finally helps her. I guess that here you’re trying to say something like that we shouldn’t judge a person without knowing them, which is a wonderful message.
I think that the story would be more engaging for your audience if you added some drawings. Even though it’s clear since you use narration, some extra visuals would help a lot. I would also recommend you to lower a little bit the music volume, since sometimes it’s a little bit hard to listen to what you’re saying.
Good job!

I liked that the main character sacrifices what he wants for what he needs.

There is an indoor cat named Maria. Maria is like any other cat. She is playful, nimble, and intelligent. Maria also adores spending time with her little cat siblings. As an older sister, she takes pride in watching over her siblings and making sure they are safe. With wispy whiskers and adorable ears, Maria resembles her precious cat siblings.
Maria’s also very curious. She spends every day thinking about having her next meal, sleeping on the couch, but mostly watching the birds outside with a venomous glare.
Maria’s obsession over the birds in the backyard is so strong that she even dreams about the birds. With each passing night, Maria time and time again imagines how she would hunt her prey if ever given the chance.
One day, the universe takes note of Maria’s dream to hunt the birds. With its omnipotence, the universe uses its magical powers to present Maria with a special gift: a set of wings. At first, Maria is alarmed, confused, and scared. But suddenly Maria realizes she can use her wings to her advantage. Maria no longer has to watch the birds outside simply through the window. Now, her magical wings will allow Maria to fly into the sky and to be near the birds she has always seen as her prey.
One day, Maria notices the front door has been left open, leaving her confused initially. As she continues peering outside, Maria abruptly realizes that this is her moment. This is her opportunity to go outside and to hunt the prey she has always been so curious about. Maria stealthily and aggressively makes her escape.
Once outside, Maria uses her new wings to fly quickly toward the birds, a vicious expression on her face. Maria feels full of adrenaline and excitement. But then, everything changes.
Maria turns around to see that her kitten sister, Julie, has gotten outside. Maria must’ve left the door open when she came outside! Julie stands dangerously close to a small body of water nearby.
Maria flies over to her sister as quickly as she can, but it’s too late. Julie ends up in the water, and she abruptly becomes trapped by dangerous debris hidden beneath the surface. Unaware of the debris, Maria urgently tries to help her sister by jumping into the water herself. Now, both Julie and Maria end up in the water, scared and helpless, with their tails tangled in the debris.
Suddenly, in this moment of desperation, an unexpected hero comes to the rescue. One of the birds that Maria planned to attack flies over toward Maria and her sister. The bird skillfully rescues the pair of cats from the water.
Maria is overwhelmed with thankfulness for the bird. Ever since then, Maria, Julie and the bird have been the closest of friends. Her feelings of aggression toward the bird are replaced with feelings of love and affection. Maria learns about the power of friendship and how it can be found in even the most unexpected of places.
This is where the special thanks would go! I’m assuming they will be a little longer this week, therefore, I designed extra space for them. If there is far more description and special thanks then there is space, this entire box becomes scrollable.
